How to use Hendricks as a Retailer

We will go through all details required for setting up a new retailer account on Hendricks. You can either book a demo, or onboard on your own - completely your choice.

Let's start by defining some terminology. There are two roles in a trading relationship: retailers and suppliers. As you probably assumed, a supplier is providing the good to the retailer to be sold to a future customer. Suppliers can sync their products into Hendricks, price them for the retailer and be available for the retailer to sync into their store or product information management (PIM) system.

If you are actually a supplier, check out this guide

Hendricks exists to help onboard Suppliers as quickly and effectively as possible. We work with the retailers to build out their ideal onboarding experience. Suppliers are able to go through that experience and connect existing systems to help run operations. Managing operations with suppliers should not involve repetitive tasks that can be automated.

Platform

The first step is understand how we are going to connect to your existing systems. We have three approaches: pre-built integrations, API, or EDI. In terms of pre-built integrations, we support:

  • Shopify
  • WooCommerce (Private Beta)
  • Big Commerce (Private Beta)
  • Wix (Private Beta)
  • Square (Private Beta)
  • Lightspeed POS (Private Beta)
  • Prestashop (Private Beta)
  • Adobe Commerce (Magento) (Private Beta)
  • Squarespace (Private Beta)

If we are missing an integration, lets us know and we are sure we would be willing to add it. Otherwise, we can help guide on how to build something custom using our API or EDI.

For retailers using EDI, we actually go through the EDI onboarding and make sure that we are meeting all requirements. This process is typically: you provide us the EDI spec docs. Then we build a custom app in Hendricks that does the translate between Hendricks and your expected EDI format. This app is installed into your Hendricks organization and translations happen automatically. The biggest benefit we've seen with existing customers is that the EDI path is reliable, and already in place. This doesn't change it, it just extends it. Imagine Shopify to your EDI docs into your OMS automatically without any humans in the loop.

Onboarding

Start by signing up for a new account. Enter your name, email and password. The password must have 2 non-letter characters (Not A-Z). This is to ensure that your account is secure. We will send you a confirmation email to verify your email address. Click the link in the email to verify your email address.

Once signed in, you will be redirected to create a new organization. Enter your organization details.

Create Org Screen

Once you've completed the sign up, you will be redirected into the onboarding flow. Follow the instructions on each of the pages. The first step will ask more about your use case. This is to help us understand how to best support you.

Onboarding: Use Cases

Next, you will be prompted to select a plan. Select the one that matches your needs the most. You can always set your account up with the basic plan and upgrade once ready. Only if you receive orders will there be a cost.

Onboarding: Select Plan

Next, you will be able to instal any apps that makes sense for you. This is how you connect your existing systems to Hendricks. If you don't see your system, you can always connect using our API, or EDI. Otherwise, please reach out and we can assist.

Onboarding: Install Apps

You will be redirected to set up each app individually. Follow the instructions on each page. Once completed, you can begin to invite suppliers.

Onboarding: Invite Partners

This can always been done in the future as well. Follow the remaining onboarding steps, but for the most part you are ready to start using Hendricks.

On the left side, you will see the main navigation. You can access your partners, and partner invites by clicking on "Partners". This is where you can manage your suppliers.

Partners

Below partners on the left side is "Pricing". As a retailer, you can view the pricing of products that your suppliers have synced with you. This is managed by the suppliers and one price list is assigned to each partnership.

Next, you have "Products". This is where you can view all the products that your suppliers have synced with you. You can filter by supplier, and search for products. You can also view the product details by clicking on the product. If you want to sync your products to your store, you can "Select" them.

Products

Finally, you have "Orders". This is where you can view all the orders that have been placed by your customers. You can filter by status, and search for orders. You can also view the order details by clicking on the order.

White Labelling

We support setting up a dedicated and white labelled supplier portal for pro users. This allows you to host your supplier portal with your branding and domain. This is great for building out a supplier network and having them manage their own products and pricing. If you are interested in this, please reach out to us.
